Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had Addison s disease for over 20 years, I also have hypothyroidism and am now having symptoms related to Parkinson s disease. Do you believe there is any correlations, most info online goes both ways. My right hand shakes often now, my muscles are rigid at times during the day. I have trouble sleeping and lose focus easily. These symptoms began about 14 days ago. Michael Connors
Sorry to hear about your disease. There is no direct relationship between Addison/hypothyroidism and Parkinson. However, Parkinson may occur irrespective of that. The hallmark of Parkinson is bradykinesia that is slowing of movement. Tremor may have many causes and are very often because of other reasons.
If you feel there is rigidity as well, then I think you should see your doctor, Parkinson is always a clinical diagnosis, so your doctor will examine you and he feels, he would refer you to a neurologist for Parkinson diagnosis and management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman,
